IKAT Weaving, NATURAL DYES, VILLAGE EXPLORATIONS

THURSDAY, JUNE 3RD / tuesday, june 8TH

6 days- 5 NIGHTS

the first and last of 2021

Join us in Sumba, INDONESIA for this textile adventure like none other! With five nights and six creatively infused days of Architecture, Textiles, Culture and Workshops on the most picturesque and untouched island of Sumba, Indonesia. You will also be hands on with workshops in natural dyeing, you will visit royal villages, have talks and demonstrations, on weaving, Ikat weaving, Pahikung weaving, Indigo and mud dyeing. Apart from these incredible workshops we will be swimming in the ocean, kayaking and enjoying sunset beach dinners all with like-minded people that love textiles and exploring somewhere completely different.

Sumba is an island in Indonesia and is truly enchanting. The rugged, undulating savannah and low limestone hills growing Maize and rice, its very different to Indonesians northern Islands. Scattered throughout the county side are hilltop villages with tall, symbolic grass roof clustered around megalithic tombs.
Encircling Sumba are white sand beaches that are stuff of dreams, with secret swimming spots, aqua coloured waterfalls inland and wild horses that roam the island. Sumba is known for the most prized Ikat textiles. It is one of the most diverse islands in Indonesia, untouched by tourism, you will barely see another westerner other than our group.
